Grand Central Recording Studios (GCRS) has hired Culum Simpson as sound designer.
The appointment comes shortly after the launch of new rooftop studio space The Lofts, and on the back of an ‘exciting’ period of growth for GCRS.
Simpson has five years’ experience in audio, working at London studio Jungle on campaigns for the likes of Google, Pepsi, National Autistic Society, PETA and the Royal Navy. He has had what can be described as an unusually rapid rise to success, gaining three major sound awards for his work in his first year as a sound designer.
Before moving into sound design, Simpson worked as an actor, played in a band and ran his own rehearsal studios – a range of experiences which he feels has contributed to his skill and creativity in sound design.
He will be tasked with supporting GCRS in its ambition to bring ‘audio excellence’ to some of the world’s best commercial spots and will also take an active role in ensuring that the company continues to nurture talent at all stages of development.

GCRS' seventh floor studio space The Lofts opened in late 2015 and, later this year, Studio Five will become one of the first commercial sound studios in London to incorporate Dolby Atmos.
