With audio specialist Prism Sound celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the company is promising the launch of two brand new key products at the upcoming 2012 AES Convention.
The UK company is remaining tight lipped regarding the details of the new products, and is inviting visitors to its stand (722) at the show to find out more.
Mysterious new products aside, Prism Sound is also marking its 25th birthday with the launch of a limited edition series of Orpheus, the company’s FireWire multi-track audio interface for personal recording and sound production. Only 25 of these one-off units will be offered for sale and each will be numbered.
Every Orpheus in the series features a black chassis and blue LED panel, and carries the signature of its creator, Prism Sound’s technical director Ian Dennis. The units also come complete with the usually optional Thunderbolt adapter.
“We anticipate huge demand for the limited edition Orpheus as they are very special and will be available on a first come, first served basis,” said Graham Boswell, Prism Sound’s sales and marketing director. “To make them even more unique, we promise that Ian Dennis will personally fine tune and polish every one!”
Aimed at professional musicians, songwriters, engineers and producers, as well as recording studios, post production facilities and scoring stages, Orpheus is suitable for a range of tasks, such as music and sound recording, multi-tracking, overdubbing, stem-based mastering, analogue summing and critical listening applications.
Orpheus is designed to deliver optimum performance, sound quality and state-of-the-art clock technology in a dedicated FireWire unit compatible with both Windows (XP, Vista (32 and 64bit) & Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), ASIO & WDM), as well as MAC OS X 10.4.11 and later (Intel & PPC). Once configured with a computer, Orpheus can also operate stand-alone using its AES S/PDIF or ADAT I/O.
