Edinburgh University’s new Reid recording studio has been supplied by Pro Audio specialists KMR Audio.
Housed in the basement of the university, the studio was designed and installed by Michael Edwards, Kevin Hay, and a number of post-graduate students and colleagues, and features an SSL AWS900 console.
The studio has point-to-point cabling from the mixing desk/patch bays to the Reid Concert Hall, which also houses an organ and a Steinway D concert grand piano.
When commenting on the installation and choice of equipment, Edwards said: “We found it exceptionally valuable to be able to compare a large range of equipment in-house at KMR. The visit we made changed a few important kit-list decisions for us, once we spent a few hours talking with staff.”
