Abbey Road Studios has selected VDC Trading to supply cables and connectors for its new Studio 52 refit.
The former production room has been transformed into a state of the art studio and is home to Abbey Road’s newly purchased SSL Duality SE console. The studio has been created in line with all of the studio spaces at Abbey Road to accommodate the recently launched Abbey Road Online Mixing service.
Along with the Duality, Studio 52 is equipped with a Pro Tools 10 Native HD system with extensive plug-ins, a selection of analogue outboard gear and B&W and ADAM monitoring. The studio selected Van Damme cables and connectors, distributed exclusively by VDC Trading, to provide connectivity and signal transmission.
The Van Damme products installed in Studio 52 range from single audio line cables to eight pair DSUB looms, speaker cables, patch bays and patch cables, as well as Van Damme VDM Circular Audio Multi Pin Connectors.
Commenting on the decision to choose VDC Trading and Van Damme, Simon Campbell, technical manager at Abbey Road Studios, said: “We have a long relationship with VDC Trading, which has supplied Van Damme cable for many of our other facilities in the past.
“As a result, we know that Van Damme cable and connectors deliver excellent value for money. They perform very well over a long period and are easy to work with during and after installation.”
Niall Holden, managing director at VDC Trading, said: “I am delighted to continue our relationship with Abbey Road, which is clearly one of the most famous names in music. To see a studio with such high standards choose Van Damme, for which VDC is the exclusive distributor, is extremely gratifying, and tribute to the hard work our technical experts put into working with Van Damme to design some of the best cable and connector products available anywhere.”
Andy Hatcher, MI specialist at VDC Trading, added: “It’s been a pleasure dealing with the technical guys at Abbey Road, they’re a great team who understand that VDC means quality, from the supply of a single mic cable to a complex loom. Working with Abbey Road Studios is possibly the highest stamp of approval a cable manufacturer can receive in the audio world. The Best of British.”
