Now that the show is over for another year, Audio Media International can reveal the winners of its Best of Show Awards at Prolight + Sound 2016.
The awards recognise new and outstanding products, and were open to any company showing a product in Frankfurt that had been launched since the 2015 event. The awards were judged by the AMI team according to a number of criteria, including originality, richness/relevant of the feature set, versatility, performance against category standard and anticipated reliability.
The winning products, along with comments from the judges, are as follows:
Funktion-One – F132
Capable of delivering frequencies right down to 24Hz from a horn-loaded unit, the mighty 32-inch F132 bass enclosure from Funktion-One certainly has presence, both in terms of power output and physical size. The result of a close collaboration between the loudspeaker maker and Powersoft, the F132 required the British firm to use aerospace technology for the cone design and develop its own loading technique to meet the desired standard, resulting in a product that packs some serious punch and also brings the best out of the Italian company’s new M-Force 10kW linear transducer.

Sennheiser – MK 4 digital
The latest product to come out of the new partnership between Sennheiser and Apogee, the MK 4 digital offers an intriguing new take on the German giant’s popular recording microphone. Equipped with Apogee A/D conversion and mic preamp technology, while successfully retaining the warmth and detail of a true condenser microphone, the MK 4 digital can connect directly to iOS devices, Macs and PCs, and is ideal for a variety of users and applications, from bands and artists to those seeking a high-quality recording solution for voice-overs and podcasts.
