Allen & Heath has released a new SLink option card for its SQ digital mixer series, opening up SQ’s potential for digital FOH / monitor splits, broadcast feeds, recording and more.

With the same functionality as the built-in SLink port, the option card provides a further 128 inputs and 128 outputs of digital audio and runs completely independently. With two SLink ports it’s now possible to combine an array of Allen & Heath products with SQ, including any ME personal monitoring system, DX or dSnake expanders.

The SLink card also allows for direct connections from any SQ console to another Qu, SQ or dLive system and/or to 48kHz or 96kHz expanders, further extending the system’s expansion and integration possibilities.

“After seeing how excited engineers were with the SLink port in SQ, we knew we had to build the technology into an option card. With the amount of possibilities an additional SLink port offers, and a retail price of just $189.00, we can see the card being incredibly popular,” said SQ product manager, Keith Johnson.

“In conjunction with the forthcoming SQ V1.3 firmware release, this card further extends SQ’s scope for expansion and provides a great solution for digital FOH / monitor splits, broadcast feeds, recording or any system that requires instant access to 256 remote sockets.”

It has also been announced that Allen & Heath’s Kevin Madden will present a digital audio mixing workshop on 5 September at 3:00 p.m. at the 2018 Experience Conference in Orlando, Florida. Madden, Allen & Heath USA’s Eastern Regional Sales Manager, is an industry veteran who combines several decades of experience as a live sound and studio engineer with an in-depth understanding of digital audio mixing technology.

Attendees at the workshop, entitled “XCVI, Oh My! Allen & Heath dLive and SQ Digital Audio Mixing Platform Primer” will receive a comprehensive overview of the latest in digital audio mixing based on Allen & Heath’s acclaimed dLive and SQ digital mixing systems with their revolutionary XCVI 96kHz FPGA engine and their highly customizable user interface.
