Symetrix featured as one of six core audio brands whose equipment powered a free-to-attend live show based on a Buddhist parable in Thailand.

The story of the Mahajanaka and its central message that perseverance is integral to achieving Buddhahood is one of the most sacred texts in the Buddhist religion. It has been told in many different ways over the centuries, but a recent live production called for an interpretation that would be easily intelligible to contemporary audiences.

The result was founded on the contribution of Mr. Team Productions and Fuzion Far East Limited. Utilising a variety of AV equipment, Mahajanaka the Phenomenon Live Show was staged at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre besides the Lake of Benjakiti Park from 1-20 December, with 200,000 people spectating.

A Symetrix SymNet Radius 12x8 open architecture Dante-scalable DSP and single SymNet xOut 12 expander delivered "robust, reliable processing throughout each and every performance of the 75-minute show," according to the manufacturer.

For Mr. Team Productions, Pok Sutat Kohkiat explained that the company has been using Symetrix products consistently since 2001 and had no doubt that one of its favourite models from the range – the SymNet Radius DSP – would be able to cope with the demands of the high-profile production.

“The key features of SymNet Radius 12x8 that have particularly impressed me are its scalability, networking capability, vast choice of modules, and its excellent sound quality,” he said. “Once again, our customers loved the performance that this Symetrix DSP provided.”

Alongside the Symetrix DSP, the other fundamental parts of the audio specification included DiGiCo digital mixing consoles, a Nexo loudspeaker system, Camco amplifiers, Sennheiser in-ear monitors and wireless microphones, and Genelec monitors.

The production delivered a special treat for its 20 December performance – a special jazz set featuring world-class musicians such as guitarist Larry Carlton, vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur and guitarist/singer John Pizzarelli. For this performance, a separate FOH and monitoring system consisting of two DiGiCo SD8 consoles and 24 NEXO PS 15 speakers was drafted in before the stage was reset for Mahajanaka the Phenomenon Live Show.
