Radial Engineering has revealed the Q4, a class-A parametric equalizer designed to interface with balanced pro audio recording systems.
It features four EQ bands with fixed low and high frequency shelving at 100Hz and 10Hz and also has two semi-parametric mid bands that respectively reach between 300 Hz to 2.4Hz and 1kHz to 12kHz.
Users can choose wide or narrow Q on each mid band and all frequencies are set up with 12dB of boost or cut.
The Q4 join the rest of the Radial 500 series models in being encased in steel and inside, the model features a double sides circuit board with discrete through-hole parts.
“For years, audiophiles and engineers have been touting the sonic advantages of full sized, discrete parts over their miniaturized integrated circuit computer and cell phone counterparts. The preference of using class-A circuits over class-AB or other designs is also well documented.” Says Radial Senior Engineer Dan Fraser
“Couple this with the fact that 500 series users are looking for the purity of analog and you can immediately understand why the Q4 is so appealing. And once you plug it in, you can immediately hear how good it sounds.”
The estimated retail price of the Q4 is $800.
