US-based pro audio manufacturer have unveiled their new digital live sound mixer with iPad control, the DL1608, on January 19th at the NAMM 2012 event in Anaheim, California.

The new console provides all the power of a fully-featured digital mixer whilst also combinging the portability of an iPad.

The iPad control system allows the user to mix from anywhere across a venue. They are able to tweak the EQ, dynamics, effects and much more. What is more, the DL1608 can support up to 10 tablets simultaneously.

Overall, the iPad functionality includes an intuitive Master Fader app and ‘Grow and Glow’ visual feedback. What is more, users are able to integrate music from any app into the mix and record the mix to the iPad in order to allow for easy sharing.

The hardware of the DL1608 includes 16 Onyx mic pre-amps, 24-bit Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters, six auxs send for monitor mixes, Master L/R output and an ultra low-noise high headroom design.

In terms of processing, the DL1608 provides a 4-band EQ (gate and compression on inputs), 31-band GEQ (comp/limiter on outputs) and a global reverb and delay.

Below is the video produced by Mackie themselves showing the unique and unorthodox result when the sound engineer from Portland-based band Vanimal first comes into contact with the DL1608. Brace yourselves.
