Telefunken microphones are being used by Justin Bieber for the Purpose World Tour in support of his fourth studio album Purpose.
"We're using Telefunken microphones on all of the live instruments," explained Bieber's FOH engineer Ken "Pooch" Van Druten. "We have two different drum kits, one that Justin plays, and we use Telefunken dynamic M82's for the kick drums, and M80's on all snares top and bottom, and there are three snare drums in the main drum kit. We use Telefunken condenser M60s on hats and rides. After trying several manufacturers' capsules we found that the Telefunken M80 was the best capsule for vocals."
Dylan Rupert of Billboard praised Bieber's vocals for sounding "smooth as ever," while noting that the performance of Company was "one of the show's most thrilling moments" and praising the acoustic set.
Bieber released his debut EP, My World, in late 2009. It was certified Platinum in the US and he became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Bieber released his first full-length studio album, My World 2.0, in 2010. It debuted at or near number one in several countries and was certified Triple Platinum in the US.
Following his debut album, he had his first headlining tour, the My World Tour, and released the remix albums My Worlds Acoustic and Never Say Never - The Remixes. He released his second studio album, Under the Mistletoe, in November 2011, when it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, in 2012. His fourth studio album, Purpose, was released in November 2015. His US album and singles sales total 44.7 million. Altogether, he has sold an estimated 100 million records, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. Bieber also became the first artist to surpass 10 billion total video views on Vevo.
