Funktion-One has made history by becoming the first loudspeaker manufacturer to supply sound for a house music event at the Houses of Parliament.

Earlier this month, a unique music event was staged at the centre of British politics, as the House the House competition reached its conclusion. Organised by the charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ), the two-and-a-half hour gig featured a series of musical performances, including a DJ set by Fatboy Slim (pictured). Headlining the bill was House the House winner Bryce Fury, who won the final at Ministry of Sound in February.

LNADJ was formed by Jonny Lee and Ian Kennedy almost three years ago, who made it their mission to unite the global dance music community in order to raise awareness and vital funding for various environmental and humanitarian causes.

Funktion-One has supported LNADJ since its inception. The company, its partners, as well as the firm's owners Tony and Ann Andrews were available to help with House the House from start to finish.

Project Audio stepped up to support the event with equipment and crew for the show. The set-up included two white Funktion-One Resolution 2 speakers, a BR218 bass reflex enclosure and F101 speakers for DJ monitoring. The system was powered with Full Fat Audio amplification and controlled using XTA processing. Project Audio also supplied Pioneer DJ equipment, a Midas mixing console, as well as lighting kit from Martin Professional, Showtec and Avolites.

“Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is close to our hearts and has been since Jonny and Ian started it. We really believe in what they do and enjoy supporting them," Ann Andrews said. “House the House was great fun to be a part of and it gave us the opportunity to pass on some of our beliefs – like the importance of top quality sound and not using MP3s – to young people who are in the early stages of their musical journeys.”

LNADJ’s James Holdsworth added: “It’s been unbelievable, really. Once the dust has settled, we might be able to properly take in everything that House the House has achieved. Having the support of people like Tony and Ann, and the Funktion-One community, is invaluable. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, and are always on hand with advice. Plus their sound systems are the best around.”
