DPA will be showing its new MMC4018 modular supercardioid condenser capsule – an integral part of the d:dicate recording mic range – at IBC 2013.
The MMC4018 offers a highly controlled off-axis response and uniform directional shape (independent of frequency), resulting in a smooth and controlled sound.
Unlike the d:dicate 4017 Shotgun – equipped with interference tube – this new variant delivers more consistent rear rejection, which makes it an interesting alternative to a conventional shotgun. While the MMC4017 is very directional, especially at the high frequencies, the more compact MMC4018 focuses on low noise and high sensitivity, making it ideal for long-distance voice capture.
The new capsule is the counterpart to the MMC4018V, which is used in DPA’s d:facto vocal mic. This means it provides good isolation and feedback rejection, for applications where clarity and audio quality are required.
“Our new MMC4018 expands the flexibility of DPA’s d:dicate range by offering the broadcast, film and music recording industries the perfect microphone for long-distance boom miking, spot miking in orchestras, foley and speech recording," said DPA CEO Christian Poulsen. "Due to its shorter length, it is very easy to boom in low-ceilinged rooms or to mount in challenging film recording sets such as the inside of cars.”
The modular nature of the d:dicate series has enabled the manufacturer to expand its remit by entering the installation market. To this end it has brought out new desktop and podium mics that give AV installers and conference organisers "the clear, transparent and precise sound they demand," the firms says.
MMC4018 is the standard recommendation for the d:dicate podium mic. By combining the capsule with various active booms and cables, installers can specify the exact microphone for their requirements.
DPA’s will be situated on stand D76 in Hall 8 at IBC 2013, which takes place at Amsterdam RAI from September 12th to 17th 2013, with the exhibition running from September 13th to 17th.
Visitors to the DPA booth will also get the chance to win one of the company's microphones by having their badge scanned, which enters them into a free draw at 5pm each day.
