Salzbrenner Media GmbH recently welcomed three Syrian refugees as interns to help them understand how German companies are structured and give them 'a new perspective on life.'
During their four-week internship, Mohamad Sattout, Dani Hassan and Mohammad Zrequaat were given the chance to learn about precision engineering, equipment manufacturing and IT procedures at the pro-audio, video and media technology specialist's headquarters in Buttenheim.
The initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between Salzbrenner Media and the Educational Association of the Bavarian Economy, and the company has already announced its intention to take on one of the interns as a trainee if he shows the required potential.
“The integration of refugees is a great opportunity for us to address the growing shortage of skilled workers and to find talented young people,” head of HR Mike Wagner explained. “We are pleased to be able to offer refugees orientation internships and to introduce them to our company.”
Salzbrenner Media says it has always taken its social responsibilities seriously, and has previously made donations to the Deutsche KinderKrebshilfe, a German foundation that helps children with cancer, and to the German Bone Marrow Donor Centre.
Sattout had already gathered some IT experience in his home country and is now hoping for an apprenticeship in the company’s IT department. “The reception at Salzbrenner Media has been very warm, and I am happy to gain insights into the company’s other departments and operations,” he commented.
Hassan is interested in German working life in general and sees the internship as an opportunity to secure an apprenticeship that will lead to a steady job.
