TC Electronic has been showing off two new products – UpCon and Broadcast 6000 – on the HHB Communications stand at IBC 2013.

The manufacturer has also revealed that HHB will now serve as the exclusive distributor for its broadcast audio and production products in the UK and ROI. Formerly a TC Premium Certified HD Dealer, HHB has been given exclusive distributor status as a result of the mutually beneficial relationship that enjoys with the brand.

UpCon (pictured) is a combined upconversion and downmix processor in a single, high-density rack unit. The device constantly monitors the channel format of the incoming audio, and if the signal falls back from true 5.1 to stereo, UpCon seamlessly cross-fades into a 5.1 surround upconversion without the addition of any interruptions or artifacts.

Broadcast 6000 is a custom-tailored version of the company’s System 6000 MKII designed for production with broadcast in mind. It includes TC’s popular LM6 loudness radar meter, which provides a complete loudness landscape overview at a glance, the ALC6 Automatic Loudness Correction algorithm and the UnWrap HD algorithm. Also, the AM6 Radar Meter is now available for the System 6000 MKII platform for the first time.

Also included with Broadcast 6000 is the DMix algorithm, which handles trouble free, high headroom downmix from 5.1 to stereo on the fly. If additional dynamics control is needed, it comes equipped with MD5.1 and MDX5.1 multiband and multichannel dynamics processing algorithms.

“This year’s IBC show is a big year for professional audio announcements led in part by TC Electronic’s UpCon and Broadcast 6000 broadcast audio products," HHB sales director Martin O’Donnell. "The introduction of the DB6 loudness manager was only the tip of the iceberg as TC continues to release a range of high-quality audio broadcast tools that are setting a new standard throughout the industry. We are very happy to be taking on the new role of exclusive distributor and helping TC introduce these extremely useful audio products to our customers.”

The IBC 2013 exhibition is taking place at Amsterdam RAI in the Netherlands from September 13th - 17th. Keep an eye on the Audio Pro International website for more updates from the event.
