The BBC picked Allen & Heath's iLive digital mixing system to handle the live FOH mix for the Friday Night is Music Night Christmas Special on Radio 2.
The set-up consisted of a MADI-enabled iDR-48 MixRack – part of the BBC’s OB inventory – as well as an iLive-T112 Control Surface.
Held at the Beeb’s Mermaid Theatre in London, the event was presented by Radio 2 DJ Ken Bruce, and featured performances from singers Louise Dearman (Wicked) and John Owen-Jones (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables), acclaimed West End vocal group Capital Voices, readings and poetry from Samantha Bond and Kenneth Cranham, along with music from the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The BBC also has an iLive-R72 rackmount surface, which was purchased in preparation for this year's Wimbledon Championships, and has subsequently been used for a number of BBC shows.
