The final preparations are underway for Prolight + Sound Shanghai 2015, which will host 500 audio brands and companies from 17 countries and regions at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 14 – 17 October.
Brands set to take part this year include Audio-Technica, dB Technologies, Avid, AKG, Adam Hall and Clear-Com. Harman will also be present, highlighting its SoundCraft Ui mixer, which can be controlled by computers, tablets and smart phones.
Several companies are planning demo rooms to give their customers an interactive experience with their products. At the Phoenix Audio demo room, for example, visitors can explore a range of sound systems from the UK’s Funktion-One.
As well as a showcase of pro-audio technology, the show is an opportunity to share and learn industry knowledge from experts and professionals. A series of forums, training courses, live demonstrations and exhibitor events will be held alongside the show to provide deeper industry insight for attendees.
On 14 October, VPLT International Audio Training Courses will be held, offering guidance on international standards and advanced training in new products and technologies. A highlight of the day is sure to be Christian Diehl, product manager at Riedel Communications, Germany’s session ‘Deployment of Digital Intercom Systems for Events and Installations’.
On the 15th, the Recording Technology Forum will provide an overview of studio recording techniques and the latest advancement in 3D sound system technologies and applications. As part of this Jörn Nettingsmeier, technical executive director at the VDT International Convention (Tonmeistertagung) in Germany will present a seminar entitled ‘3D Sound Primer: Surround Sound Psychoacoustics and Fundamental Techniques for Immersive Audio’
Then there’s the Acoustics Technology Forum, presenting advice from experienced audio engineers as they share audio compression techniques; the Concert Sound Arena, a professional outdoor line array demonstration featuring sound systems from various audio brands; and the Vision X Network, a product presentation and networking lounge highlighting the latest products and technologies in a ‘relaxing setting.’
