Prolight + Sound, Musikmesse moved closer together for 2017
The Frankfurt shows will overlap for three days next year instead of two following feedback from exhibitors and the wider industry.
Messe Frankfurt has revealed that its two annual Frankfurt-based pro-audio/lighting and MI trade fairs, Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse, will from next year run in parallel across three days following experiences gathered from the 2016 event, along with feedback from exhibitors, associations and the wider industry.
The opening times have also been adjusted – both events will be open from 10am to 6pm on all days.
Last year, the organiser announced its intention to introduce a new format for 2016 that would see the shows – which had previously been run together side by side over four days – only overlap over two days, with Musikmesse scheduled for Thursday to Sunday and Prolight + Sound starting earlier in the week.
As of next year, Musikmesse will shift forward slightly to a Wednesday to Saturday slot (5-8 April), with Prolight + Sound running from Tuesday to Friday (4-7 April) as always.
Although Messe Frankfurt says that many of the changes implemented at Musikmesse this year have proved to be 'a great success', and that the extended range of offerings for trade visitors was 'well received by companies, wholesalers, retailers and distributors alike', the Sunday 'produced perceptibly smaller numbers of visitors' compared to the first three days, which were 'universally well attended.'
“As an international trade-fair company, with a commitment to the sustainable long term, we see the on-going development of our events as an integral part of our work. The new concept for Musikmesse is part of a dynamic process. We have listened to what people are telling us and we shall continue to listen, in order to adapt to the requirements and expectations of the industry,” said Stephan Kurzawski, senior vice president of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.
“Against this background, we shall also be investing in Musikmesse in the future and continue to build up the successful elements of the event. At the same time, we shall, of course, make such adjustments as are wanted by the majority of the companies and visitor groups involved. We thank everyone in the sector for the constructive feedback that we have received before, during and after the show.”
