Kilburn-based Institute holds event to introduce visitors to its new facilities and tell them about its coming together with Alchemea College.

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) has held a launch party to celebrate the completion of its new studio facility in Kilburn, London and the launch of its Creative Music Production courses.

During the event a number of industry guests, partners and journalists came to view the studio, learn more about the coming together of ICMP and Alchemea College – which closed its doors last year but has since been acquired by ICMP and is now continuing under the new name Alchemea @ ICMP – and hear from Gary Katz, patron of the new production courses.

The studio build was a 12-month project managed by studio builders Slowglass. ICMP was the first to receive Audient's latest ASP8024 large-format console, configured with two producer panels in order to mount the Avid S3 control surface.

Outboard gear includes UAD’s 6176 Vintage Channel Strip and a Lexicon PCM 92 FX processor while Pro Tools, Logic Pro X and Ableton Live are also being utilised in the studio.

ICMP has a burgeoning relationship with UAD and has installed a UAD Octo Card with the ‘Ultimate’ bundle giving students access to a plethora of emulated classic studio outboard. In addition to the desk the main production room is kitted out with 2 x Moog Mother 32 analogue synths and Novation Bass Station analogue synths. Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol the Arturia V Collection appear in all production rooms and in tech suites.

Mike Sinnott, facilities manager at ICMP and former director of Alchemea College, said: “It is so great to see Alchemea College continue to live on through ICMP. Not only did the two institutions share the same ethos in providing small, personalised learning experiences for students we also have many of the Alchemea team joining us at ICMP.

“Students who choose to study Music Production at ICMP really are getting the best of both worlds. I’ve been working on the studio build for 12 months and it still takes my breath away every time I come in here, the students are so lucky!”
