Genelec names Howard Jones as international project manager
Jones, who spent over a decade at Source Distribution, will oversee the Genelec Experience Centre located at the new Scrub HQ in Central London
Genelec have strengthened their sales and marketing team by appointing Howard Jones to the role of international project manager.
Based in Cambridge, UK, Jones joins the Finnish loudspeaker manufacturer following an eleven-year stint as director of distributed brands with Source Distribution, and now has responsibility for consulting with the Genelec team on their global sales and marketing strategy.
Jones already has a strong connection with the Genelec brand through his previous role with Source, who have since 2007 been the exclusive distributor for Genelec products in the UK.
One of the first responsibilities that Jones has been tasked with is the overseeing of the world’s first Genelec Experience Centre located at the new Scrub HQ in Central London, which opened this autumn.
The Experience Centre allows visitors to audition a vast array of studio and AV install models in stereo, surround and immersive audio configurations.
Jones’ goal is also to make the Experience Centre a major hub for pro audio activity in London, by co-ordinating a regular programme of clinics and seminars that bring professionals together to network and learn more about the very latest in audio technologies.
Siamäk Naghian, Genelec managing director, commented: “Having worked with Howard for many years, we realised the significant benefit that he could bring us through his long experience of distribution and his understanding of the opportunities and challenges that it presents. Under Howard’s guidance, the UK has been a consistently outstanding performer for Genelec, and we’re very happy to be able to bring his considerable energy and real-world sales and marketing expertise to our organisation.”
Jones added: “It’s a thrill to be working as part of the Genelec team – I have a genuine fondness for the brand and the people behind it, and if the knowledge I’ve gained over the years here in the UK can help Genelec better understand and satisfy the needs of the market globally, then I’ll be absolutely delighted.”
